    Today when I connected my hard drive with my pc it will not showing up. Then I checked in Disk management but nothing found. Please tell me any suitable method which will help me in detecting my hard drive to Disk management utility.

    Your external Hard drive is not showing in Disk management Just follow the steps listed below and fix the issues:

    • Find search box in your system and type cmd and press Enter
    • Type set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 and click on Enter
    • Type cd \ and click on enter
    • Type cd windows\system32 and hit the enter button
    • Type start devmgmt.msc and hit the enter button

    By completing this process your device manager is open you have to click
    on view After that you have to click on show hidden device

    Extract all nodes by click on + symbol and if you have find any unknown entries uninstall it.

    Restart your computer and again connect your hard drive. Check the external hard drive showing in disk management.

    If your external Hard drive is not showing in Disk management Than these steps will help you to detect your hard drive in Disk management windows.

    • Go to device manager with the help of search box
    • Select Expanded Serial Bus controller
    • There is list of all different devices in which there is option of Unrecognised device is given you have to click on it and uninstall this device it gave you warning deleting the device from your system no need to worry click on it.
    • Now you see your external drive is shown on Disk management but task is not completed here you have to change the drive path also suppose my drive letter is E, I will change it to F by right click on change drive letter.

    Hello stephen it’s sound bad that your external hard drive is not showing in Disk management let’s check out this method may be this will help you to detect your external hard drive in disk management

    • If you are using PC just cut the chase and connect the hard drive through the port from behind the PC
    • If you are using laptop you have to spend some penny on USB port hub it will provide your LAPTOP enough power to run the hard drive

    Hi stephen if all above method will not help you to detect your external hard drive in Disk management then try this method

    • Go to the Control Panel
    • Find Device and printer option
    • You will find that your device is shown there but couldn’t coming on your computer
    • Now go to the property and find the driver and uninstall it
    • Go to device manager and choose Scan for hard ware changed than your external hard drive will show again in your Disk management

    I have tried all above method but no result found. Infect whenever I will connect my hard drive it will produce too much sound and there is message display on my system that wizard couldn’t find optimum match for your hardware. So, in this situation uninstall it and again install driver. Than message appear new hardware found it is ready for use. But again it is not found in my computer disk management. I am using window 10 please suggest me any reliable solution to fix external hard drive not showing in disk management utility.

    Hello Michael just follow these steps which are given below. This will help you to fix external hard drive not showing in disk management utility.

    • Press Win + R key to open Run box
    • Type regedt32 and press enter
    • First backup of your Registry and start exporting it
    • Find this location which is given below from left side HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    • If you see any filter upside and downside than delete it

    I will praise all above solution related to hard drive is not detecting in the disk management but these methods can’t resolve my problem whenever I will connect my hard drive with my pc which has window vista hard drive it’s works. But when I connect with my laptop which contain window 7 operating system. It doesn’t show in my disk management. I don’t know how fix this issue, please help me to solve the hard drive not showing in disk management.

    Hello Lincoln I didn’t get you properly but the thing which I understand from your query that you can’t access your external hard drive in your laptop Disk management. I know few methods which maybe helpful for you. To find keen solution let’s check out these method which is given below

    • Firstly remove all external device from your USB hub
    • Go to start find search box
    • Write Devmgmt.msc and hit the enter button
    • Now device management will show Universal serial bus controller
    • Now click on USB Root hub than find property and select power management tab and uncheck it
    • If usb hub is fail to detect our device in Device manager. Than click on action button. This will help you to scan for hard drive change and fix hard drive not showing in disk management utility.
