External HDD Error Need to Format Drive Before You Can Use It

Hi, I have an old Dell computer and it was working fine. But accidentally it fall down on the firs from the table and get broken. Then I purchased a New Samsung RC520 Laptop with 640 GB Hard disk.

I tried to copy all data from my old computer’s hard drive. But when I plug in the Hard   drive then it shows “Need to Format Drive Before You can Use it”. As I saved all my important files in it so I don’t want to format the external hard drive. Is there any  possible solution to fix the Need to format drive error.

Plug in you hard drive on to other systems because some this error occurs due to hardware and software compatibility issue.

I did both but did not fixed the issue.

Hi, you can use check disk utility to resolve Need to format drive error. Follow the steps given below. nAs you inserted an image and it shows that your hard drive is G. n1. Go to Run and type cmd. n2. Type the command chkdsk G: /rn3. If a pop appears for recover file simply proceed by selecting yes. n4. If the above command does not fix the issue, type chkdsk G: /f command. nI hope this command will fix need to format error.

you can use Test Disk Utility to fix Need to format disk before use it. Test disk utility is a free ware tool. Download the utility and navigate according to specified steps.

I used Test Disk utility but my all data erased. How can I retrieve my data.

In this situation you nee a windows hard drive data recovery software. To get back your erased data from external hard drive. Once the backup of data completed. Format the hard disk and simply you fixed need to format disk error.
