Friendly scale opens both doors, the admin batch and the per user hand carry, with AOL adding one requirement to either.

The AOL requirement first: app passwords per mailbox, generated in each AOL account's security settings, since AOL rejects normal passwords from any migration machinery. Collect the eight before starting either route, the ten minute task that prevents the eight mysterious failures.

The admin route, an IMAP migration batch: in the Exchange admin center create a migration batch of type IMAP with endpoint imap.aol.com over SSL, fed a CSV of the eight mailboxes with those app passwords, targeting pre created 365 mailboxes on your new domain. The batch copies folder structures across and can run repeatedly, each pass a delta, letting you start today and finalize at cutover. IMAP carries mail only, the standing boundary.

The hand carry route, honest at eight users: desktop Outlook per user with both accounts attached, AOL over IMAP with its app password beside the new 365 mailbox, dragging folders across at whatever pace the week allows. Slower per mailbox, zero admin center learning curve and each user verifies their own history as it lands, which small firms often value above elegance. Contacts travel by AOL's export to CSV into OWA's People import either way, and the cutover is the same in both shapes: mail flow to the new addresses via your domain's MX records already pointing at 365, with AOL kept alive a month as the safety net while correspondents learn the new addresses.
