    I have got 2 PST files exported from my office computer to my personal laptop. Now when I am trying to open these .pst files by double clicking them, I am getting a error “Outlook data files must be opened from within Outlook.”.

    Let me show you the same error screenshot. I am using Outlook 2010.

    Please help me, what should I do to open these PST files. I am not too computer savy.

    I hope double click feature to open pst files is not supported by Microsoft Windows.

    I think the file which you have has an extension that is related to Outlook. Try & check the file extension & open the file with “Open With” option.

    Tried the technique. But I asked it to open with Outlook & same message arises: “Outlook data files must be opened from within Outlook”. I am not able to understand “within Outlook”.

    The PST files can be opened “from within” Outlook. For that you need to first open Outlook & then in Outlook choose File >> Open >> Outlook Data File..

    Thanks for the technique I tried this method but still one of my PST file is not opening. Now I’m tired of this. Please suggest me any method or tool with the help of which I can open & view my PST files in my personal laptop.

    You can try any of the PST viewer available in the market to view PST files.
