How to Read EML Files Without Thunderbird?

I am using Mozilla Thunderbird for a long time. I have a number of emails in EML file format that are saved on my system. I don't know how to read them. Can anyone tell me how can I read EML files without Thunderbird email application?

I have tried this method. But due to some reason, I am unable to open those files. What would be the reason?
