    Hi, I need to create the complete backup of my Gmail account with Emails, Contacts, Google Drive, etc.

    I knew about Google Takeout but don’t know how to work with it?

    Please explain the complete procedure.

    Hi Stephen,

    You can easily create Gmail account backup by Google Takeout, just follow the mention steps one by one:

    Step 1. Login to Google Takeout Account (by following the link https://www.google.com/settings/takeout)

    Step 2. Select required item which you want to export like Mail, Profile, Tasks, etc. Click on Next button.

    Step 3. Select Create archive.

    Step 4. Select Manage archives then choose Download option to finalize the process.

    These are very simple steps to download complete Gmail account data.

    I have one more question in my mind, Google Takeout containing many folders like Mail, Drive, Contacts, Calendar, etc.

    Please tell me about all the folders and what file format they carry?

    Hello,

    I will explain you about all the folder which extracted by Google Takeout with there containing file format.

    Mails: This folder containing all your Gmail emails in .mbox file extension which are used in many email clients.

    Calendar: This folder containing calendars items in .ics file extension.

    Contacts: Contacts saved in three file format such as vCard, HTML, and CSV.

    Google Drive: This folder having all your important documents which uploaded over the Google cloud. The folder mainly containing DOCX, ODF, RTF, PDF and TEXT file format.

    Hi Henry,

    The manual steps have work fine but in some scenario, it would not work properly such as when we get the backup of Multiple accounts one by one, large size Gmail data, corruption in backup data, etc.

    In that situation, we can trust on third party tool, like Gmail Backup Tool.

    The manual and automatic methods help to create Gmail backup but my concern is how to open .mbox and vCard files?

    Please suggest any manual or automatic way.

    You can open MBOX and vCard file by using any third party tool. As per mention below:

    MBOX File Viewer
