    I am using Windows Live Mail on windows 8 system . I saved my mails as. EML file and tried to open the mail by double clicking on the files. I was unable to open my mail with EML extension on Windows Live Mail. Is there any possible solution that I can open EML files in Windows Mail itself? Also,As an alternative, I have Outlook but unaware of its working. Can I  import my EML file from Windows mail to MS Outlook ? Any possible solutions are welcomed .

    Open the file by double clicking. The mail will not be in Inbox but will be partially executed by Windows Live Mail. Try executing the Windows Live Mail using short cut.

    Thank you for your reply. But double clicking the file is not helping to open the EML file.  Only Windows Live Mail opens blank.
    I even tried to save an incoming email to a file on the desktop (with the default .eml extension), and then reopening it from the desktop with the blank Windows Mail.

    I would suggest you to update your Windows Operating System and repair your Windows Live Mail.

    The Windows operating system is fully updated. I tried all the initial troubleshooting step, but it had no difference.  Ever after repair and reinstalling, I am still unable to open any saved email files.

    There might be possibility that that the Windows Mail has been corrupted.

    Yes you can try importing the EML files into MS Outlook. Please follow the steps:
    1. Open the Microsoft Outlook
    2. Select File -> Open -> Import.
    1. Choose Import from another Program or File option and then, click Next.
    2. Now, select Comma Separated Values > select Next.
    3. After that browse the imported file and choose the file. Select from any of 3 options displayed: Replace duplicate with items imported, Allow duplicate to be created, Do no import duplicate items. Select Next.
    4. Select the destination folder to save the imported files and finish.
    Please, note that using such manual process have a risk of losing your data. So, I recommend you to use any professional EML to PST converter.

    No, I cannot risk my data as I have already mentioned that the data are very essential for me.Can you suggest me any software that can automatically solve my problem of transferring EML file from Windows Live Mail to Outlook without losing my mail.

    I would suggest you a tool “SysTools EML to PST Converter” which I have used myself. I found this software effective and worthwhile.

    Thank You for your suggestion. This tool is really amazing as it helped me import Windows Live Mail to Outlook PST
