    Hi

I got some old files in my system with .mbox file extension. I have no idea about these files but this system is of my friend and according to him, it has some emails. I want to open .mbox file type extension so as to read all the emails. Can anyone suggest any method to do so?

    Hi Sandra,

First of all, let me tell you about MBOX files. It is a mailbox file which stores emails in a concatenated manner as your friend said. It is supported by many email applications like Thunderbird, Mac Mail, Eudora, Entourage, etc. You can use any of these applications to open MBOX file. I would prefer you to use Thunderbird.

It is required to download and install Mozilla Thunderbird and ImportExportTools add-in. After installing and configuring successfully, follow these steps:

    1. Click on Tools >> ImportExportTools >> Import MBOX File.
    2. In Files MBOX Import, click on Import directly one or more MBOX files.
    3. Click on Import subdirectories to import MBOX files with its subdirectories.
    4. Hit on Open in order to import MBOX file to Thunderbird.
    5. It will open mailbox file and you can view all the emails.

I think this issue can come if you are importing a bulk of MBOX files or these files can be corrupted.
It is better if you go for an automated solution i.e. SysTools MBOX Viewer tool. The application can help a user in opening MBOX file and view all the data items within the file. You can simply open .mbox file type extension in bulk in a very less time.
