Yes, the mention steps are useful for minor corrupted Thunderbird mailbox not for heavily corrupted or large size (1 GB) mailbox.
For repairing large size or heavily damaged Thunderbird mailbox I personally recommended a third party tool.

You can easily repair your Thunderbird Mailbox by following these simple steps:1. Open Mozilla Thunderbird to fix corrupted folder/emails
2. Right-click on the Inbox folder where damaged emails are stored
3. Click on Properties option from the drop down
4. In the General Information tab, click on Repair Folder then click OK
This simple steps will help to repair Thunderbird emails.

You can easily extract DBX files to MBOX. Just follow manual steps discussed below
1. Go to tools >> option and select import into Thunderbird
2. But make sure all emails are selected.
3. Click Next and Finish.
4. Now take a backup of your data and move to a new machine without deleting anything.
5. Install Thunderbird to a new machine and restore your profile.

What you can also do is follow below steps:
Drag email from the .eml folder and drop them to Inbox wait for the process to get finished
repeat the same to done with all the folders
open Microsoft Outlook 2007/2010, file, and Import Files.

I have also deleted calender by mistake. But I did this and have my calendar back with all information
Go to calender then put the exact name of the deleted calender and save it. This works for me, I think its because I used the Exact name of the deleted calendar.
Note-> Nothing is deleted forever on a computer
