    Hello Guys! I just want to know that can I delete OST files without losing email messages? And what happens if I delete OST files?

    As there are voluminous OST Files in my system causing system-hang & overloaded-space issues. Just want to know what happens if I delete OST files? Is it safe to delete outlook OST File? Will I be able to access my Emails or not?

    “Can I delete OST files without losing email messages?” :- Yes, you can delete OST files without losing any Email. Your emails are deleted from cache locally but will be accessible as they are also stored on Exchange Server.

    I think both of your doubts “Can I delete OST files without losing email messages?”, “what happens if I delete OST files?” are clear now. But make sure to make a backup of your OST Files data.

    Why should I backup my OST Files if I am still able to access my emails from server?

    It is very important to have a local backup of OST Files. As if, in any case the data is deleted accidentally from Outlook then you will not be able to recover it. So, having a backup is must of your important data.

    OST Files are generally located at: –
    C:\Documents and Settings\your profile name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

    Yes, you can use SysTools OST to PST converter. But you will not be able to export other mail components like contacts, journals calendars.
