    OK, let me tell you the main reasons behind these errors which encountered the errors:

    • Corruption in OST files.
    • Outlook OST files were attacked by a virus.
    • Sudden system shutdown while Outlook-Exchange synchronization process is on.
    • Abrupt Outlook termination while Outlook-Exchange synchronization process is on.

    Hello Dexter,

    As per Michael described the main reason, I would mention some solution to recover the corrupt .ost file:

    1. The easiest approach to fix corrupted OST file is to replace it with the latest backup copy. It is an advice to take OST file backup regularly.

    2. Use the Microsoft Scanost.exe utility in order to recover damaged OST files. If you are using Outlook 2007 and below version then the utilities can fix minor issues of OST files.

    3. In some cases, the OST file got corrupted due to issues in Outlook User profile so you can delete the current profile and create a new one.

    Follow the above-mentioned steps to repair OST file.

    I think you must use a free OST viewer tool to open OST file even damaged or corrupted.
