My .pst file somehow went to 0 kbyte. Due to which my mail locked up when I was trying to download it. Can it be recovered. We moved to outlook 2010 from 2007. All my important mails and Data from the last 7 years are stores in it.

My Setup: windows 7, Office professional, NTFS

    Any Help would be appreciated

    Hello Dexter
You need to restore your data from backup. If you have Backup available.
Since the file was not deleted but truncated, It must not be deleted.
Recently, I found that, Outlook 2007, have some problems with NAS drives/servers.

Sorry but it’s been way too long since I did the back up (yes I know – I should know better than foregoing regular backups) 🙁

    Hi Dexter
You can this method, sometimes it works.
    1. Corrupt the .pst file manually.
    2. Using a hex editor, Erase 7 bytes from position 07 in the .pst
    file.
    3. Then run scanpst.exe – available free on the net.
You will recover you old PST file.
    This sometimes helps.

Note: If this doesn’t help, the file has
    travelled west.

I tried getting help of a hex editor to edit the file. But it’s 0 Bytes in size as mentioned earlier I cannot just erase the 7th through the 13th byte
in the file……… What else needs to be written in the file otherwise?

You have to use this method it’s best possible and most efficient way to recover a PST file:
    For this you have to
Create a new outlook 2010 data file.
Save a New Folder on My Desktop.
Copy an existing Sent and Received folder to New data file.
