I have read your query & want to suggest you 2 methods which can help you, as I was also stuck in the same situation & has tried it & found good results.
1. You can try Mailbox cleanup method to manage the size of mailbox
2. Or, you can move some of the messages to Personal FoldersBoth the methods are very efficient & can help reduce the mailbox size.
Well, to fasten up the process you can Compress the file after archiving to remove the space. Follow the below-mentioned steps:
Click on file >> Account Settings >> Data File >> Select PST file >> Settings >> Compress.

You can try to split PST file using WinRAR utility to split PST file by size. For this refer the below-mentioned steps:Open WinRAR window and navigate to the folder, where your file is located.
Right-click on the RAR file and select “Add files to archive”
In the newly opened window, you can give a name to your to-be-splitted file. Then in the “compression method” option select “store”. You can now fill the value inside “split to volumes, bytes” after that click OK.

Sure there are, but I would like to know whether you wished to see the best approachable method by using a third-party tool. I really prefer you to opt this method because it will provide 100% result while transfer Outlook OST to PST file.
I must say that if you are moving to opt a manual procedure then you should do as careful as possible. It is because if the flow didn’t come with the manual method (i.e if you skipped anyone of the steps the result won’t be satisfiable). Therefore, you must be very careful while approaching any manual solution to convert OST to PST.

I have already faced the issue then I was found a tool named as MDF viewer which help me to open MDF file even orphan and damaged.
