MichaelI would suggest you to update your Windows Operating System and repair your Windows Live Mail.
You can try SysTools Mbox Viewer. This will enable you to view all your emails similar to Thunderbird and you can export the email with attachment to PDF as well. I hope this will solve your purpose.
You can download the Thunderbird ans install Mozilla Thunderbird add-on importexport tool. Download the tool and you can import the Mbox into your profile and you can find all the attachments.

You could take backup of your emails using a trusted software which is SysTools Gmail Backup. I haven’t used this software but it has a feature that allows you to backup your Gmail account emails in folder wise format to your local drive.

MichaelYou can find two types of files inside Thunderbird Profile. One is msf that you mentioned and another with Type File. This file with no extension is the actual Mbox files.

MichaelMS Outlook is an email client application that can convert the PST file into multiple formats such as EML, MSG, PDF and VCF. You can easily convert the PST file into MSG by drag and drop method, you need to drag the pst emails that you want to convert and drop them to your desktop.

Being honest this is only the way to analyze the duplicates in Outlook but as you told that you’ve a large sized mailbox then you need to move towards any other third party utility like Email Duplicate Analyzer. This tool can easily detect multiple PST emails in Outlook.

MichaelTo analyze duplicates in Outlook manually there is only way is to go through all the emails in your mailbox folder and then manually delete them. Moreover you can sort the message by date, sender, subject, etc., and then try deleting them from mailbox.
