Hi,
You should probably take backup of the emails and then delete all the duplicate emails from your mailbox.

Even I am facing this issue with AOL Login since Verizon has acquired AOL. I think these errors might be occurring because of the acquisition.
But since in your case is simpler as you just want to view old emails.
You should take backup of your AOL account to keep the copy of your emails offline.The way in which you could do this is as follows.
You could copy the content of each email & then save it in a Word document for future referencing.
You could do this for every important email of yours.I hope this helps.

Locate the subkey HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Microsoft Internet Mail Message/shell/open/command
Right click to Modify
Enter the following code:
%ProgramFiles%/Microsoft Office/Office12/Outlook.exe /eml “%1”
On the File menu, click Exit to quit Registry EditorYou can download the Microsoft Outlook 2007 post service pack to solve the above problem.

I am also having the same issue but the difference is I do see my contacts in the main contact folder but it is not displaying in Outlook Address book. The folder is also selected as an outlook Address Book. But not displaying in it.

-Then go to properties. Check for the following:
Incoming mail POP3 > pop.gmail.com
Outgoing mail SMTP> smtp.gmail.com
Check for the valid port numbers too.I hope this solves your problem.

Hotmail account usually gets temporarily suspended when a suspicious activity is detected.
FYI, you would have to wait for 30 days for your account to get re-activated.Best Regards,

This can only happen if you delete the emails by yourself or if your account got hacked and the hacker deleted all the emails. As you already know after deleting the emails, they go in TRASH.
